If you’re looking to start using Canon DSLR’s to shoot your youtube videos but don’t want to pay some of the top prices for a vlogging camera then perhaps the Canon 77D is the one for you as it makes its way in at the top of Canon’s entry level range.

Accurate Autofocus
The 77D features an upgraded 45-point autofocus system as well as Dual Pixel CMOS AF which is similar to that found on some of the more expensive models like the Canon 80D. This technology is incredibly reliable and is exactly what you need when you’re filming yourself and want to be pretty confident that you’ll be kept in focus. The more focus points, the better and this has plenty. Definitely a vloggers best friend.
1080p 60fps
Although this camera doesn’t feature 4K recording it does allow you to capture video footage in 1080p at 60fps which is perfect if you wanted to film those smooth slow-mo cinematic video that you can slow down when editing in your favourite video editing software. So that’s a plus point for this camera.
Flip Out Screen
One of the main features of a great vlogging camera is a flip out screen and the 77D has exactly that with full swivel abilities to let you to see yourself if you’re filming yourself and to allow you to get those up high or down low angles.
Built-In Wi-fi
Travelling with your vlogging camera can sometimes be a lightweight affair so you won’t always have your laptop with you especially if you’re on a trip abroad and only have hand luggage, a laptop is something you’ll probably sacrifice.
That’s where the 77D’s wireless capabilities come in extremely handy. Allowing you to quickly pair the camera with a smartphone lets you transfer video from the camera to your phone so you can edit it and quickly upload to youtube or your social media channels.
External Microphone Port
Audio capabilities on DSLR cameras are never the greatest, so if you’re looking for a bit more flexibility with your audio recording then you’ll be pleased to hear that the 77D does offer you the option to plug in an external microphone via the 3.5mm microphone port.
If you’re considering pairing your camera with an external microphone then the Rode Videomic Go is a great option.
Overall this is a fantastic vlogging camera for those who don’t have the budget to stretch for one of the higher end models and want to invest in something that has a bit more punch to it than the cheaper models. We’re pretty impressed of the specs for this camera at the price point and think it’s definitely a worthy purchase.
Don’t get us wrong, there are some features that would have been nice like 4K recording but it’s not a dealbreaker.
