If you’re looking for a camera for youtube to produce some of the best quality video at an affordable price then look no further than the Panasonic LUMIX G7 4K Digital Camera, with LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm Mega O.I.S. Lens, 16 Megapixel Mirrorless Camera, 3-Inch LCD, DMC-G7KK (Black).
Coming in at less than £/$500 including a lens, this mirrorless camera is capable of shooting video up to a maximum quality of 4K, which makes it one of the only cameras currently in that price range that have that ability at the moment.
Smaller than your average sized DSLR, the Panasonic G7 is relatively lightweight allowing for easy portability for those who like to attach their camera to something like the Gorillapod and vlog on the move. Weighing in at 542g (0.9lbs) including the battery and the kit lens, this is almost half the weight of other cameras like the Canon 80D which we’ve reviewed earlier.
Another major benefit of the Panasonic G7 is the fact that it has a fully articulating swivel screen which means that you can see yourself as you’re recording. This is one of the most sought after features of a vlogging camera as it can be quite important to make that you are still in focus or even in frame if recording handheld.
An external microphone port lives on the left side of the G7 allowing you to plug in external microphones to improve your audio recording quality through a rode videomic or something similar that can be attached to the hot shoe slot on top.
Now I’m personally an owner of the Canon 80D which I bought due to owning a lot of Canon fit lenses and not wanting to move away from their systems, but this camera actually allows you to get adapters to fit lenses from other camera brands.
It’s a Great Travel Vlog Camera
These features are actually something that are making me consider picking one of these cameras up as a travel vlogging camera for both filming travel vlogs and doing travel photography as often I can find that the bigger camera takes up too much bag space and can be quite an inconvenience to carry around.
Having had the chance to be able to have a play around with this camera, the menus are very easy to use and if you’ve used any Panasonic camera before, then they will be extremely familiar. The buttons are perfectly laid out and everything just feels really natural in your hands.
Some parts of the camera do feel somewhat plastic and cheap, but overall it’s still pretty solid and when you’re getting some of the specs on offer at this price point, there does need to be some sacrifices elsewhere.
If you’re one of those people who like to transfer stuff from your camera to your phone whilst on the move then the Panasonic G7 comes with built in wi-fi and NFC capabilities to send files over to your smartphone for quick share to social media or youtube.

As I’ve already mentioned, I’ve been incredibly impressed with this camera and although it’s a few years old now, I’m definitely considering picking one up in the next few months as I plan to do a lot of traveling next year so this would be a perfect time to invest in one. If you’re looking for a great 4k Vlogging camera with a flip screen then this one is the ideal choice.
